sands of time

as i walk thru the shadows of death
i start to weep for i can see a river
of blood flowing from my flesh and seep
into the sheets beneath my head
now as i lay smothered in darkness
i watch my soul burn to black and
the ashes flee with the wind while
blood stained fingers trace a trail
of broken skin
but only now that i begin to feel
the life drain from my body do i
see my footprints fade from the
sands of time.
