Have questions, new to this, would love advice.

I have been thinking about the concept of being transgender for over a year and i'm a female to who prefers to be male. I was hoping people would have advice on what makes the changes easier or if there are processes such as 'drag' that make the first little bit less awkward? Reason I say awkward is I have not discussed my views with family and would not want to just come home one day looking like a man.

For instance is it best to invest in a compression shirt, and are there make-up techniques one can use to help make them look more masculine? If anyone has any tips, or know other resources that would be helpful I'd love to hear them.
